Alena Hučková is a prominent Slovak pianist specializing in chamber music and collaborative piano. During her studies at the Bratislava Conservatory (Peter Pažický) and the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno (Jan Jiraský), she successfully established herself on both the domestic and international music scenes. She made her debut with the Brno Philharmonic at the age of thirteen, followed by solo performances with the Slovak Philharmonic and the Janáček Opera Orchestra of the National Theatre Brno. She further expanded her professional background by attending masterclasses led by renowned figures such as Matti Raekallio, Arkadi Zenziper, and Balázs Szokolay.
She is a recipient of numerous awards in both solo and chamber music competitions, including the Absolute Winner title at the Amadeus competition in Brno, and top prizes at Pro Bohemia Ostrava, EPTA Osijek, and the International Schubert Competition for Piano Duos. Her sensitivity and musical versatility have earned her repeated awards for best piano accompaniment at competitions such as Schneiderova Trnava, Prešporský Paganini, Rajecká hudobná jar, and the J. Beliczay Competition.
Currently, she focuses primarily on her career as a sought-after chamber musician. Professionally, she served as a collaborative pianist at the Department of String Instruments at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU) and was a member of the Slovak National Theatre Orchestra. She applies her extensive experience in artistic collaboration to orchestral auditions at the Slovak Philharmonic (particularly for viola, violin, and double bass) and has served as a pianist for international masterclasses (e.g., Konvergencie, Camerata Comorra).
Her concert activity includes performances on prestigious domestic and international stages. She has appeared within the concert series of the Slovak Philharmonic (Chamber Music Series, Concert Without an Audience), at festivals such as Konvergencie and Viva Musica!, and in a recital in Shanghai. She has also performed as part of projects like Bratislava Clarinet Day, Domus Artis, and within the concert series (Ne)známa hudba and the Sunday Matinée at the Bratislava City Gallery. Together with violist Martin Ruman, she forms a stable duo; they have released two profile albums: their debut featuring works by Rebecca Clarke (2019) and a CD mapping Slovak repertoire for viola and piano. A significant part of her repertoire consists of performing works by contemporary composers (Ľubica Čekovská, Jevgenij Iršai, Marek Piaček, Viliam Gräffinger, Víťazoslav Kubička, and Ilja Zeljenka), whose compositions she has premiered or performs on a long-term basis.
